PWA Releases Event Calendar For 2011: Three New Locations
The PWA announces the locations of this year's 14 events, guaranteeing that 2011 is going to be a great year for windsurfing on the PWA World Tour. Three exciting new destinations have been confirmed.
After months of negotiations, the PWA has released the 2011 PWA World Tour calendar. In what’s set to be one of the busiest competition years in recent history, the 14 events seem to be evenly divided among all three disciplines (race, wave and freestyle).
The year kicks of with a brand-new location as the tour heads to Mui Ne, Vietnam for men’s and women’s freestyle and slalom. The fleets will give it their all on the palm-studded beaches of the South China Sea for a piece of the event’s €100,000 prize purse.
The second new and exciting destination is Aruba, where the World Tour will enjoy a week long Grand Slam event. For the first time since 2005, the freestyle and slalom fleets will head to the shimmering waters of the Caribbean.
The final new installment for 2011 is a stop at El Medano in southern Tenerife, where consistent north east trade winds blow for the duration of the northern hemisphere’s summer. Add this with a reliable supply of Atlantic swell, and the 2011 PWA World Tour has the makings of a classic show down.
Standing alongside the new additions to the 2011 tour are the good old favorites, which include the grueling European leg and slalom action in Ulsan, South Korea.
