Four days left to T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds 2009 in Hamburg

Northern Germany is gearing up for top of the line extreme sports: After the spectacular wakeboard long jump over a Hamburg tour boat, the world's best wakeboard riders are going to meet at the Wasserski Arena Pinneberg for the big showdown this upcoming weekend.

Foto: T-MoblileNext to last year's champion Tom Fooshee and acting world champion Mike Ketellapper, for the first time ever, the Extreme Playgrounds feature a female competition for the title of the WWA Wake Park World Series. The battle of the wakeskaters and the BMX miniramp contest perfect the program, which consists of 40 riders. They're fighting for fame, honour and certainly the proper purse of 45.000 US$. And if that's not adrenaline enough, there's The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Mad Caddies and headliners Rise Against live on stage.

Preparations are well underway. Only a few days seperate the fans of the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds from the Summer Session 2009. A special appetizer already happened at the Grasbrookharbour in Hamburg. Steffen Vollert and Tom Richter were audacious enough to (successfully) try their luck at jumping over a typical Hamburg tour boat. August 30 marks the date: Waiting time is over. The wakeboard, wakeskate and BMX miniramp elites move in on the sought-after titles.

Featuring four different competitions and three gigantic liveshows, this year's Summer Session offers it's largest program ever. Rob Darden and 13 of his colleagues throw themselves into the miniramp. Four international top riders show their best wakeskating tricks. The most exciting duels, however, are to be expected from the wakeboarding departent. Talent extraordinaire Maxine Sapulette (NL) meets three challengers, and in the male group the 14 contestants around titleholder Tom Fooshee (USA), World Champion Mike Ketellapper (NL) and European Champion Dominik Gührs go for the finals of the WWA Wake Park World Series.

To be able to pack that much sports into one day, the Wasserski Arena opens it's doors at 11am. In between the contests, the Mad Caddies from California and The (International) Noise Conspiracy from Sweden are going to keep the crowds busy. And after all is said and done in the competition department, Rise Against are going to put the punkrock-icing on the cake.
