Pro Wakeboard Tour 2010: Harley Clifford Wins In Acworth
The top wakeboarders of the world took to the water in Acworth, Georgia for the 2010 Pro Wakeboard Tour. After several rounds of elimination, Harley Clifford was left standing as Acworth's winner.
The Pro Men started the final day of competition with the Quarterfinals with only 20 riders remaining. Two out of the four riders in each of the five heats advanced to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, the field was decreased from 10 riders to just 6, who would participate in the final round. Austin Hair advanced to the Pro Tour finals for the first time, after sending both Danny Harf and Shaun Murray packing.
The six riders in the Finals were Austin Hair, Adam Errington, Rusty Malinoski, Phillip Soven, JD Webb and Harley Clifford. Since the skill level in the final heat was so high, riders had no choice but to give their all in attempt to win the first Pro Tour stop of the 2010 season.
Aussie Phenom Harley Clifford, the current defending Pro Tour titlist, took that notion to the next level during his final run, landing a handle pass KGB 540 – the first ever in a contest.
Harley Clifford’s impressive run launched him clearly into first place in the Pro Men’s finals and he has now assumed the lead in the Pro Tour standings. Rusty Malinoski took second place and Phillip Soven landed in third.
“I’m stoked,” said Clifford. “Sticking the KGB 5 and winning the first Pro Tour stop in the same day is just unreal.”
After an exciting event in Acworth, the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour is off to Fort Worth, Texas for its next tour stop, which will be held from June 10-12, 2010.
