King Of Wake 2010: Air Nautique Wake Games
King Of Wake 2010 heads to Orlando, Florida for the first event of the season. The Air Nautique Wake Games unites pros and amateurs alike for this high speed wakeboarding competition.
This exciting wakeboarding event at the Orlando Watersports Complex marks the first of eight stops throughout the United States. Throughout the season, boarders will collect points at each tour stop and the athlete with the highest total point count will be crowned the champion.
“Orlando is going to be epic because it’s our first stop and everyone wants to start the season off with a win,” said defending King of Wake, Aaron Rathy. “Everyone is looking to go big at the Air Nautique Wake Games and we’re all stoked to get the season started.”
Both wakeboarding’s top pro athletes and amateur riders will be grouped together into teams for the Air Nautique Wake Games. Ten preselected captains will host a live draft to field a team with a mix of male and female, pro and amateur riders.
Amateur riders will compete separately, but contribute points toward the team score based on their individual placement in the amateur division.
Similarly, the pros can gain points for their team based on their individual placement in the pro division. However, pro points also count toward the series standings.
Throughout the event, the pros will perform their rail tricks and aerial stunts before a panel of judges, while being pulled by the Super Air Nautique 230 at 25pmh.
Winner of the 2009 Wake Games, Rusty Malinosk, is hoping for a similar outcome at the King of Wake 2010 events. It won't be easy, as fellow competitors, Aaron Rathy, Harley Clifford, Danny Harf, and Bob Soven also have their eyes on the prize.
The 2010 Air Nautique Wake Games in Orlando also offer fans a great experience. Not only is there awesome food and music, but fans can also get athlete autographs and shop for boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions.
