European Cable Wakeboarding Championships 2009 in Finland
The die is cast: For the first time, the European Championships for Cablewakeboarding were awarded to Ukkohalla in Finland. These will be the eleventh European Championships.
From 30 July to 2 August 2009 the top European performers shall converge on Ukkohalla to find the best in that sporting activity. Preparations are in full swing. Over and above the top figures from over 15 nations, the organisers expect crowds of up to 15,000 onlookers.
Ukkohalla, a favourite summer and winter sports resort was chosen to be the venue for this cable wakeboard sporting event and it is intended to add further momentum to this sporting activity in Scandinavia.
“When it comes to infrastructure, conditions are just ideal. Ukkohalla has the world’s northernmost cable wakeboarding facility, it has a cable railway 900 metres long, perfect accommodation, plus numerous extras, such as spas and sauna landscapes, and allows for mountaineering and angling activities”, enthuses Mr. Andreas Boes,
the project manager of the International Water Ski Federation (IWSF).
The country of a thousand lakes, as it is called, should inspire wake boarding fans from all over the world, when it comes to its remarkable natural background and the midnight sun, which does not allow for real darkness at that time of the year.
During the eleventh Euopean Cable Wakeboarding Championships the wakeboarding-pros definitely will show their best skills and creativity to get the title.
