Nike US Open Of Surfing Will Decide It All For Next Year
The 2011 Nike US Open of Surfing means just one thing to many of the surfers - requalification. Everyone is looking to give it their all and keep their spots in next year's lineup.
The 2011 Nike US Open of Surfing will represent the final stop on the 2011 ASP Women’s World Title Series and while Carissa Moore has already wrapped up her maiden crown, the event will be especially important to surfers who are looking to retain their positions among the elite ranks for 2012.
Courtney Conlogue, who is in a safe spot to return to the ASP Women’s World Title Series for 2012, has put together an impressive rookie season while learning the intricacies of the new locations on the ASP Women’s World Tour.
“This year the World Tour locations have all been new for me,” said Conlogue. “I’ve been studying and learning a lot. I haven’t had the results that I’d like to have but hopefully next year will be better.”
Courtney Conlogue is currently No. 7 on the ASP Women’s World Title Series and leader on the ASP Women’s World Ranking.
Laura Enever, current No. 11 on the ASP Women’s World Title Series, knows that a standout performance will be required to rejoin the elite ranks for next season and is taking a confident approach to the event despite the pressure.
“I know this event is really important for my requalification, but I’m just trying to put that fact in the back of my head and just enjoy the event,” said Enever.
Pauline Ado, current No. 9 on the ASP Women’s World Title Series, is fresh off of her best result of the season in France, an equal 3rd place finish, and is hoping to carry the momentum to America.
“I’d like to continue and finish the year off strong,” Ado said. “Making the Semifinals was amazing and I secured a good result. It helped take some of the pressure off of this event, but hopefully I will do well here too.”
The women’s Nike US Open of Surfing runs alongside the men’s ASP PRIME event as well as men’s and women’s ASP Pro Junior competitions.
The 2011 Women’s Nike US Open of Surfing holds a waiting period from August 1 – 7.
