Billabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast Men's Round 1
The 2011 ASP World Junior Tour continues as the final event, the BIllabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast, kicks off to a great start. Round 1 of the men's competition has seen good swells and favourable weather.
There's 2 - 3 foot (1.5 meters) fun-sized waves running down the point this morning and a call has been made to finish the Men's 16 heats of Round 1.
"We're looking at about 2 to 3 feet of swell at the Burleigh rock break," Contest Director Luke Egan said. "During the morning high tide we've got favourable winds so we're going to get straight into the boys event and finish Round 1 today. Conditions over the next few days are looking pretty similar, so there's a good chance we will run the Women's Round 1 or the Men's Round 2 on Sunday."
The 2011 Billabong World Junior Championship is supported by the Queensland Government, through Events Queensland.

The Billabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast is the event that will decide the 2011 Men's and Women's ASP World Junior Champions. After exciting events in Bali and Brazil, the 2011 ASP World Junior Tour moves to Burleigh Heads, Australia.
Just a matter of days before the big event, Davey Cathels injures his ankle and is ruled out of competition. Unfortunately, the major contender for the 2011 ASP World Junior Title will not be able to participate in the Billabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast.
