The surfers catch their breath as the waves drop too low for competition. Event organizers are waiting for the perfect waves that will allow the competitors to really shine.

The third event of the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Santa Catarina is ready to launch into Round 3 and the predicted swell will certainly provide the world’s surfing elite excellent conditions.

“The surf has dropped substantially since yesterday and we’ve called competition off for the day,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “We’ve done well to smash through two rounds in the first three days and conditions are expected to improve over the coming days so we’ll be back to assess in the morning.”

Up first in Round 3 will be current ASP World No. 4 Bobby Martinez against Luke Munro (AUS), 27, in the opening heat of Round 2.

Organizers of the 2010 Billabong Pro Santa Catarina will reconvene tomorrow at 7am to assess conditions for a possible 7:30am start.
