Billabong Pro Santa Catarina 2010: Rounds 3 And 4
Surfers Jadson Andre and Michel Bourez are moving up in the world as they both proceed to the Quarterfinals of the 2010 Billabong Pro Santa Catarina.
After two unfortunate lay days, the Billabong Pro Santa Catarina 2010 was able to cram in 20 heats of competition in one day. Despite the delays they were able to complete Round 3 and the opening four heats of Round 4.
Stop no. 3 of the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Santa Catarina offers valuable ranking points in the 2010 ASP World Title race.
Jadson Andre, 2010 ASP World Tour rookie stood out today as he beat both Damien Hobgood in Round 3 and Luke Munro in Round 4.
Andre scored the highest heat total of the day with a 16.83 out of 20 and will continue on to the Quarterfinals for the first time in his career.
“Every time I would finish a wave and ride back on the ski, the whole crowd would start screaming,” said Jadson Andre. “It’s the best feeling in the world. I will go and rest tonight and hope for a big finish tomorrow.”
When Jadson Andre arrived in Brazil, he was at an ASP World Tour ranking of 13, which he has already improved in Santa Catarina.
“It’s a super important event for everyone,” Andre said. “Everyone wants to make the cut after Tahiti and to be at home is a good advantage for me. I’m not trying to think of the cut-off. I’m just thinking about surfing my best.”
Andre will challenge Michel Bourez in the Quarterfinals of the Billabong Pro Santa Catarina. Bourez was also victorious in two rounds, eliminating Kieren Perrow in Round 3 and Joel Parkinson in Round 4.
“Everything is going well for me at the moment,” Bourez said. “My girlfriend, my family, my friends, everything is good. I have a really good board at the moment and feel like I’m surfing strong.”
Bourez will have to stay sharp as he takes on Jadson Andre in the Quarterfinals.
“It will be a hard heat for both of us,” Bourez said. “It already matches my best result on tour and it’s his (Jadson Andre) first Quarterfinal. I saw he got some 8s in his heat and he surfs out here really well so it will be a challenge, but I look forward to it.”
Up next in the 2010 Billabong Pro Santa Catarina, Mick Fanning and Taylor Knox will face off in Heat 5 of Round 4.
