TTR World Snowboard 2010 Winning Snowboard Design
Swatch and the TTR World Snowboard Tour are proud to present the winning design of the Swatch TTR Trophy “Art Rules” Design Contest.
Axelle Dorado from Switzerland is the winner of the “Art Rules” design contest. His stylish black, white and red “kiss" design for the new trophy has now been brought to life by the renowned “Coarse” toy artist, Mark Landwehr.
A gala was held in Barcelona on May 21st 2010 to present Dorado’s winning design. This new design will be the Swatch TTR Tour Champion trophy for the 2010/11 snowboarding season and a matching Swatch TTR wristwatch will be manufactured worldwide.
In February 2010, Swatch and TTR launched the “Art Rules” project celebrating the connection between snowboarding, art and youth culture.
1700 people from across the world participated in the web-based art contest that would give the blank white trophy a makeover.
A panel of judges met in May and took upon themselves the difficult task of selecting a winning design. The jury include the Swatch president Arlette - Elsa Emch, co-founder of the TTR Tour, Terje Haakonsen, the president of the TTR Board of Directors, Reto Lamm, the "Coarse" toy artist, Mark Landwehr, and Pascal Johansen, the founder of “Illustrative Berlin”.
Dorado's design stood out from the others due to its simplicity and controversial image. During the award ceremony, Arlette - Elsa Emch explained that the jury was particularly fond of the “lipstick kiss” idea.
Dorado was received a two-week vacation in Shanghai, plus transportation, accommodation costs, and pocket money for two.
Swatch and TTR hope to continue with the concept of this competition in the future.
The 2010/2011 season will startwith the Billabong Ante Up in Whistler, B.C. in June.
