Summer Feast 2009 at Snow Dome Bispingen
The Summer Feast 2009 at the Snow Dome Bispingen proved from the 27th of July until the 2nd of August that winter and summer can be reunited as one.
This year’s Snow Park Summer Feast 09 in Bispingen was a huge success, and convinced even the toughest critics. From Monday the 27th of July until the 2nd of August motivated shredheads could enjoy and rip a perfect park, chill with their homies and party till the break of dawn.
The camping grounds were situated between the metal giant that is the Snow Dome Bispinging and a national park, which made for a very interesting and surreal sight. Ontop of that, there was a little outdoor snowpark and a beach area that rounded off the complete set up perfectly. The interior of the Snow Dome eagerly awaited the riders with a perfect park set up, designed for all riding levels. With the snow playground ready to be shredded there was nothing that stood in the way of a sick shred week. In addition to the park, one has to say that all of the other side events were also well set up, and presented numerous highlights as well.
Furthermore, riders also had the opportunity to test out next years gear including boards boots, binding etc. This had a lot of riders stoked due to the fact that many got to try out the new rocker technologies which were the big hype at this years winter ISPO. A summer camp is also seen by many riders as a training facility, where one can try and dial in a couple new tricks before the next winter comes along. That need was also covered by the organisers, who invited team riders such as Lars Scherneck, Gianni Baggenstoß, Christian Wörndl, Floy Greyer, Torge Nagel, Tajo Seefriend and a couple other guns from Burton, Atomic, and Flow, who all were their for personal coaching or just answering questions of the shredheads.
Friday the 31st of July was the day when 40 riders from Germany, Poland, and Denmark were able to shred the park in a slopestyle session and battle it out in for tons of goodie prizes worth 4,000 Euros! In the 16 and over category it was Jonel Fricke who took it home, and convinced the judges with solid style and the longest airtime over the kicker. Torge Nagel coming out of Eutin, who is a local Bispingen shaper, took home the victory in the Freeskier category. Jonel Fricke however didn’t want to quite stylin’ and late spit out a couple fresh freestyle lines with the support of DJ Jürgen, who blew the roof off the house that night.
It was a relief for those campers that after such a crazy night they could take things a little bit more chill on Saturday that saw the ‘Goodies for Trix Session’ go down. The session had a charming and relaxed format, where riders could dig deep into their bags of tricks and win prizes for pulling off their best bits on chosen park runs. However, the session was more focused on shredding with buddies than trying to win the prizes at any cost. The grand finale of the day was the outdoor session on the snowhill. With the sunset in the backdrop and warm temperatures riders pulled their last couple moves for the summer season, which got props from the surrounding crowd and photographers who definitely got some nice shots in the bag.
Next date: Fall Weeks from the 5-11th of October 09 at the Snow Park Bispingen.
