Antoine Truchon Wins 2012 Shred Show Slopestyle
Riders at the 2012 Shred Show were faced with less than ideal weather conditions as fog rolled up from the valley for the slopestyle event. The competition was condensed into a 'super-finals' format that included all 23 competitors in a best of three run format.
The TTR portion of the 2012 Shred Show wrapped up today with the 5Star slopestyle competition. Canadian rider, Antoine Truchon, battled through the foggy conditions up on Blackcomb Mountain to take the top spot on the podium and was awarded $15,000 for his victory.
On Saturday night, fellow Canadian, Darcy Sharpe, won the Big Hip big air competition also taking home $15,000. The Whistler/Blackcomb park crew did an excellent job on the course that included a jump at the top, a gap to giant butter box, an option of cannon jib or a gap to cannon, a channel gap and ended with a sizable kicker.
In the end it was Antoine Truchon who had the x-ray vision to power through the fog and stomped a run that was made up of a frontside 1080 double cork, frontside 180 on to switch backside 180 off on the butter box, a boardslide to 270 out on the cannon, a backside 540 and a switch backside 1080 double cork to finish it off.
"It feels pretty good to win especially with the challenging conditions," said Antoine Truchon. "I'm really glad to win here. I've been riding a lot of TTR events this year and next season I'm trying to send it like a king."
The Shred Show was the first 5Star slopestyle event of the 2012/2013 season in North America and all riders who competed got a nice jump start banking some early season points.
The 2012 Shred Show kicked off on Saturday night with a big event billed as The Big Hip. Riders were going huge on the 50-foot hip jump where they had the option of hipping to either side or gapping the entire thing straight on. This was Darcy's first major TTR title of his career and will be going home $15,000 USD richer and with the Shred Show Big Hip trophy. Darcy rose above the pack and won with impressive tricks including a frontside double cork 1080, backside 720 and a corked backside 900.

First place qualifiers at yesterday’s 10th Anniversary Vans Wängl Tängl in Mayrhofen are Austrian bad boys “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” Peter Sandner, Florian Trattner and Stephan Wimmer rounded out the day with overall best team performance.
In true Wängl Tängl style, the 2012 event awarded creativity and innovation. There were many winners, but Jake Collins took home the most cash for tricks with his back to back moves on the massive mini-ramp. A free open-air concert capped off the night at Musik Pavillion.
