European Open Laax 2013: World Champions versus X Games Gold Medalists
From February 4th to 9th Swiss ski resort of Laax will once again transform into a playground for some of the world's best snowboarders. The slopestyle and halfpipe competition will see winners of the recent X Games and World Championsships battle each other once again.
From February 4th to 9th some of the world's best snowboarders will come to the Swiss city of Laax to celebrate the European Open 2013. In the 14th year of the competition, the snowboard community will be able to see more than 300 top snowboarders from around the globe compete in slopestyle and halfpipe during six action-packed days.
X Games Champion in Switzerland
Snowboarding’s elite riders will come to Laax to battle for prestigious World Snowboard Tour Ranking points and a portion of the European Open $125,000 prize money. Among them will be Canadian Mark McMorris, who just won a gold and a silver medal at the X Games in Aspen.
He will be joined by belgian Pro-Rider Seppe Smits, who just added X Games silver medal to his trophy room. Additionally Finnlands Roope Tonteri, who just won two gold medals at the world championship in Canada will hit the slopestyle contest in Laax.
European Open Laax 2013: Setup
Just as it was last year, the European Open slopestyle course is located on Ils Plauns. The 500 meter long line consists of seven features. Additionally, the 140 meter halfpipe is located on Crap Sogn Gion and has 6.7 meter high walls and an inclination of 18 degrees.
