Well-known formal Freestyle World Champion and holder of several mountainboard World Series titles, Tom Kirkman has helped to design the park. For some years now he has successfully been working on several top mountainboard parks around the globe. In Winterberg he laid down a masterpiece of a park. His remarks about the park are accordingly, “It is the best park I have ever ridden, there is no other course in the world like it!"

Not just passionate mountainboarders are awaiting the opening of the park. With its four air filled tires, the mountainboard is like an all-terrain skateboard or snowboard. The mountainboard-feeling is similar to other board riding experiences, for example snowboarding. Therefore the opening of the Mountainboard Park for the summer season 2009 will be an opportunity for all board sports enthusiasts to try something new.

Mountainboarding is Britain’s fastest growing extreme sport, and a huge trend in the USA. In Germany however it is still in its baby shoes. Due to the great choice of spots in middle Germany, as well as the Alps, the sport reaches more addicts from all over the country. On the 2009 season opening day there will be a big group of German riders showing off their tricks.

Downhill, Freestyle or Race, the park, with five different tracks is versatile and big enough for all kinds of riding interest. With a length of 1.2 kilometres is the boardercross track, with its steep corners and wavy bumps the longest of its kind in Europe. There is also a freestyle area with tables, doubles, ramps, rails and a wallride as well as a tree-jip. For the beginners there are two slopes, one easy boarder cross as well as a more advanced track.

For those, who have not got their own equipment, there is a rental place right next to the slopes that also offers tuition. Those who already have snow and skateboard experience will be able to pick up the mountainboarding in no time. For the newbie’s it will take around half a day until they can experience the feeling of success.
