Movistar Chile Kiteboard World Cup 2008: Day 8

Today started out nice and sunny but with no wind. The temperature in the morning was at 12 degrees Celsius while wind speed was 4-5 knots with bright and clear sunny skies. However, cloud covers moved in the afternoon and still without sign of any wind coming.

After lunch, the Movistar Kiteboard World Cup 2008 in Matanzas, Chile concludes with an awards ceremony at the beach for the Wave Competition.

Under an overcast sky, the organizers prepared for the day’s event which culminated in the awarding of trophies and cash prizes for the winners which started at 3:00 in the afternoon and finished at about 4:00 pm.

The original plan was to hold an expression session before the awarding ceremony but there wasn’t enough wind to do so. After the ceremony, the organizers and competitors were interviewed by the local media before everyone left the event site.

Wave Competition Results:

1st Place - Guilly Brandao (Mormaii, BRA)

2nd Place - Kevin Langeree (Naish, NED)

3rd Place - Drew Beavis (North, AUS)

Congratulations to Guilly Brandao for winning the Wave Event and to all the other winners and participants of the Wave Competition. See you all next year for another exciting Tour of the PKRA 2009 season.
