40 girls signed up to improve their kitesurfing skills at the one-day clinic. The conditions of the day proved difficult with the wind gusting from 11 to 30 knots.
Kristin Boese headed to Hood River, Oregon for the most recent stop of the 2010 KB4girls World Tour. The event in Hood River was held at the Cascade Kiteboarding School and attracted girls from Canada and California as well as local girls from Oregon and Washington.
The amazing coaches that helped Kristin Boese lead the clinic included Becky Henry, Kris Kinn and Tonia Farman.
Dr. Amber Kirk from Vancouver/Canada said:
“Coming to the KB4girls workshop was absolutely fantastic. It really did not matter how the conditions were and how I kited that day - when I walked away and had seen what I could learn I was so inspired. My friends and I are now all so excited that we are talking about where and when we can go and practice all these new tricks!”
After a full day of kitesurfing, coaching, demonstrations, crashes and new tricks the group got together at the Sandbar Café for the prize ceremony and after-party.
Alison Calder won the Best Kiteboarding KB pro model board for the most outstanding performance of the day. Nadia Beaupre won the best crash contest and the spirit award in memories of Silke Gorldt went to Lauren Burwell.
The next KB4girls event will be held in Montauk, New York from September 24-26, 2010.
