Nine Knights 2010: The Knights Are Ready
The line up for the most exciting freeski event of the year is set. The Nine Knights is anything but the usual freeski competition and on the 24th of April they will leap through the snow, battling for fame and glory.
This was made clear by the entry list of this yearʼs “Wanna be a knight?“ video contest. In this contest, skiiers submit a video edit showing their best trick. The best edit wins an invitation to Oberstdorf for the 2010 Nine Knights session.
This year's winner, Markus Eder, is a rather unknown rider. Markus convinced the knightsʼ panel with awesome variety, immaculate style and his sense of humour. When Markus Eder heard about his victory, the 19-year-old from the Marker Völkl Freeski Team was overjoyed.
“Itʼs incredible. I went to Livigno in January to create my clip and some of the tricks within I just learned there. Like the double flatspin that is in the video was only my second try! Now I am looking forward to a week of fun and riding with the worldʼs best skiers on Nicoʼs famous castle.”
Other skiiers invited to the competition include Tom Wallisch from the US who recently won the European X Games slopestyle contest, Lolo Favre, the style master himself from France, and last yearʼs Nine Knights winner, Henrik Harlaut from Sweden. Further knights include the best German freestyle skiers Bene Mayr, Thomas Hlawitschka, Xavier Gehring and Fiat Freestyle Teamrider Tobi Reindl, Austrian legends Martin Misof and Luggi Brucic, Mister Paddy Graham from England and JF Houle.
The 23 year old canadian is currently winning nearly every competition he attempts. He is definitely one of the hottest candidates for this years victory. In case you counted along, thatʼs more than nine knights. But the cast is still not complete.
With this unique line-up the Almdudler Nine Knights 2010 is about to raise the bar in Oberstdorf, from April 19th to April 24th.
Sam Cohen and Camilla Loughlin take the first place wins of the male and female 15-17 year old divisions respectively. Strangely enough, the highest score of the 2010 Crystal Mountain Junior Freeskiing Championship came from the 12-15 year old boys.
Unlike other performers, Jossi Wells rocks all three disciplines in freeskiing competitions. His AFP halfpipe rankings are off the chart and he continues to rack up the titles in the 2010 season.
