Austrian Freeski Open starts with 140 participants
The obstacles are shaped to perfection, the race office is set, everything is ready to go for European freeskiing scene arriving in Mayrhofen. The Austrian Open is about to start into a week-long program full of excitement.
The experienced shape crew of Mayrhofen‘s Penken Park has spent days with fine tuning and now the competition course shines in perfection. The big quarterpipe at the end of the course has the same dimensions as the famed obstacle of Innsbruck‘s legendary Air & Style event later this month and rumor has it, that several superstars of snowboarding are awaited for training in Mayrhofen as soon as the Austrian Freeski Open are history. But not only the quarterpipe, also the two big kickers and the rail set-up promise the highest level of riding.
The Austrian Freeski Open are not only about serious competition, however, they are as much about fun and partying at night. Particularly the FM4 After-Contest-Party presented by downdays.eu is a guaranteed crowd pleaser, Just in time for the AFO‘s kick-off the organizers revealed yet another highlight: Jamaica‘s own Dancehall sensation Cali P, a favorite to the international freeskiing scene, is going to rock the Arena live on Friday night. Just another reason to witness the Austrian Freeskiing Open 2009 onsite in Mayrhofen.
At today’s training, the competition course of this year‘s Austrian Freeski Open simply looked brilliant. The riders didn’t hesitate to take advantage of it and practiced their runs for tomorrow’s qualification one more time.
