Austrian Freeski Open course in top shape

At today’s training, the competition course of this year‘s Austrian Freeski Open simply looked brilliant. The riders didn’t hesitate to take advantage of it and practiced their runs for tomorrow’s qualification one more time.

To make it to the finals, it well may take a performance that would earn the podium somewhere else. Favorites among the 40 riders in the open qualification include Germany’s Sebi Geiger, the winner of last year’s Rookie competition, Swiss shooting star Elias Ambühl and James Woods from Great Britain.

Every rider in tomorrow’s qualification has two runs, the better score counts. The first starter is expected to hit the course at 10:00 a.m. Unless the weather causes any major trouble – the forecast predicts some clouds and eventually light snowfall in the afternoon –, the second round should be finished by 03:00 p.m. In between and after the men’s qualification heats, the ladies and rookies have yet another chance to practice for their finals on Thursday. The second event day will come to an end with the riders party in the famed Scotland Yard right in the middle of Mayrhofen, beginning at 09:00 p.m.
