Xterra World Tour 2010: Next Stop Saipan

Following the great championship in South Africa, racers now prepare to set their minds and bodies to the limit in the ninth annual Xterra Saipan Championship Race.

The Xterra Saipan Championship is part of a terrific block of events that create an ideal excuse to spend a month or more in the islands racing and training.  The week before XTERRA is the Saipan Marathon, then training camps and clinics, then XTERRA Saipan, then the 21st annual Tagaman road triathlon (2k-60k-15k), and Xterra Guam the weekend after that on March 27.

At stake is $15,000 in prize money from Xterra and $8,000 from Tagaman, plus the opportunity to win a return trip with airfare by winning the PIC Double, which is the best combined time in the two races awarded to the top male and female finisher.

Long-time XTERRA Pro Mike Vine will join Takahiro Ogasawara in conducting an XTERRA University Camp in the days leading up to the main event, and a diverse field of competitors from around the world, including a large contingent from Korea, are making the trip to paradise.

Three major date changes to announce as Xterra Malaysia moved to June 13, and Xterra Czech and Xterra Brazil both moved to August 7.

A new location - Spindleruv Mlyn - accompanies the new date for the Czech Championship and puts it just a week before XTERRA Germany, creating a compelling reason for athletes to travel and do both events.
