Ironman Hawaii 2011: The Ultimate Triathlon
It's that time of the year again and the biggest day for triathletes is here. The most qualified athletes from around the world are off to Hawaii for the 2011 Ironman World Championship, where they will test their endurance, willpower, and stamina.
The 2011 Ironman World Championship is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 8 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The incredible selection of top athletes is set and 1,800 men and women are signed up to participate in the event that will put their bodies to the ultimate test.
This race of all races consists of three segments: 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of biking, followed by a 26.2 mile marathon.
The new Kono Pro Ranking system for the 2011 Ironman Hawaii has helped facilitate the process of selecting participants. Hopeful athletes competed around the world for valuable ranking points that would qualify them for a coveted spot in the race.
