Day 1 of the DirtMasters Festival 2009 in Winterberg

The Rookies Downhill Cup marked the start of the 2009 Dirt Masters Festival in Winterberg. Funsporting was trackside to capture the exciting moments of the race for those of you who couldn't make it.

The day started off with a down-pouring of rain, leaving the downhill track slick and muddy for the 285 registered competitors. The competition saw entries in several divisions, including; kids, youths, juniors, girls, women and men.

Out of 107 starters in the mens division, Tilmann Schwab, (start number 111) secured the lead with 1.75 seconds between himself and the second placed Christian Textor. Robin Schmitt was a close third, just four seconds behind the lead.

Marina Tscheschlok secured the first place in the women's division, followed by Ana Raecke in second, and Julia Haider in third.

Out of 32 riders in the junior division, Michael Schwab took the win, followed by Sebastian Schneider and Oliver Blank in second and third respectively.
